KAÏA Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil — 500ml

KAÏA is the first Tunisian olive oil sold at Selfridges and Harrods in London and La Grande Épicerie de Paris. It’s a female-produced, family-operated olive oil from the Ben Romdane estate in Mahdia, Tunisia, where the family has cultivated olive trees for five generations.

The heirloom Chemlali olives are handpicked the traditional way by women from the nearby village, on century-old heritage trees that are only rain-fed. They’re cold-pressed the same day. The result is a certified organic, fully traceable extra virgin olive oil whose flavour shifts subtly every year, reflecting its seasonal nature.

KAÏA is a producer brand, so it isn’t sourced or blended by a third party. Founder and producer Sarah Ben Romdane oversees every step herself: picking, grading, cold-pressing, bottling and distribution. In the 19th century, the Ben Romdane family was the first Tunisian family to export Tunisian olive oil. As the sixth generation, Sarah is the first in decades to revive production from the same trees.

Harvested in November, when the olives turn from green to purple, KAÏA is high in polyphenols with a low acidity level. This harvest has a balanced flavour, with notes of green almond, nuts and ripe tomato, a subtle peppery finish and no bitterness.

Delicious drizzled over salads, grilled vegetables, fish, burrata or fresh bread, or simply enjoyed on its own.
